Monitor build update
1:28PM January 07, 2021
Monitor 1 and Monitor 2 mainline construction is complete
Construction is complete, and fiber service is now available in our Monitor build areas. The completed builds allow us to bring Wintek powered by Tipmont fiber internet service to approximately 900 homes.
Place your order or learn more about Wintek powered by Tipmont here. Already ordered service? The below steps will help you plan for your new fiber connection. These steps take approximately six to ten weeks to complete.
Step 1 - Confirmation of order
If you placed an online order, a member service representative will confirm your account details and verify your internal credit history. If no additional information is needed, you are ready for the next step. If we cannot match the name on the order with the account holder or a deposit is required, a member service representative will contact you within two business days to complete your order.
If you order service over the phone, all the required information will be gathered during your phone call with our member service representative.
Pro tip: When ordering online, make sure the person ordering internet service is the same as the Tipmont electric account holder.
Step 2 – Initial site visit
A connection specialist will contact you to schedule an initial site visit. It is important to promptly respond to any missed calls or messages from our connection specialist, as the initial site visit must be completed before the installation process can proceed. At this visit, our connection specialist will consult with you about the plan to bring the fiber network from your property line to your home. This visit will take approximately 30 minutes.
What you need to do: When the appointment time arrives, someone 18 years or older must be present. If you need to reschedule, please give us at least 48 hours’ notice.
Step 3 – Drop construction
This step includes running fiber cable from the road to a junction box that will be placed on the outside of your home. All the work will be based on what was decided during the initial site visit. Note: The fiber cable will follow the same path as your electric service. If you currently have underground electric service, your fiber optic cable will be buried in the same location. If your electric service is overhead, the fiber optic cable will run overhead, adjacent to the electric wire.
What you need to do: Nothing! You do not need to be present for this work to take place. We will leave a door hanger to let you know the work has been completed.
Step 4: Fiber installation to your home
This is the moment you have been waiting for! We will bring the fiber from the outside of your home to the inside, install the fiber gateway, and verify that the WiFi signal is working throughout your home. The technician installing your service will also demonstrate how to best use your new fiber internet connection. We will call you to schedule this visit.
